Things Nairobi has taught me - Part I

It took my wallet to be stolen together with my earthly savings of Ksh 300. My heart to be broken twice by ladies I thought were my soul mates and a friend to con me Ksh 1.4 million. For me to realise that living in Nairobi City wasn't for the fainthearted.

Too posh to be pregnant

My colleague Kate will go to hell. Forget that thing called purgatory, where we are told after one dies, their soul gather in some lounge to listen to Jazz music and sip fortified holy wine as they await the Second Coming. For Kate, she will go straight to hell immediately she dies, and this is why.

5 things I would do different if I was back in campus

I miss campus life and my crazy clique of 'comrades'. However, what I don't miss are the unwinding lectures of Prof. MK who spoke as if he had the monopoly on knowledge. I never liked him a bit. Moreso after he failed me in second year exam, ati because he couldn't read my handwriting. I've never forgiven him, and to date I still hope that the lighting that's to strike him is still doing pressure ups. I later found out he had a thing for my campus old flame, the lovely Cindy Wanjiru, and I was simply an obstacle.

The drama of moving houses in Nairobi

I have a new neighbour. She moved in last evening in the bedsitter squeezed at the far end of my neighbour's main house, and immediately attempted to make history.

Men too have that biological thing...

Funny thing about life is that it goes on. It doesn't stop and wait for you to put your act together. It doesn't wait for you to first land your hands on Mr Right or Miss Perfect. Certainly, it doesn't wait for you to sort things out before you buy that dream house, walk down the aisle or pop some little rascals into the world.

This woman called my mother

Let’s get this out of the way. My mother, Julia Busolo Waudo, will go to heaven.

And this is why.
